Introduction and Content Warning: Please read before reading any of the individual stories.

These stories are a collection of memories.

As such, they can be imperfect: due to the age of the person when the incidents occurred, as well as by how the specific incidents affected that same person.

These stories are not in any specific order and may represent any stage or age in the life of the primary character [Amy].

These memories are not being written to tarnish the memory or legacy of anyone affiliated with the memories. For that reason, the names of all persons involved [including the author] have been changed, as have additional identifying characteristics of those same persons. For a better understanding of 'who is who' in the individual stories, please see/read the post called "Amy's Family Tree".

These memories are being written to shed light on how neglect and abuse [which could be accidental or intentional] can affect a child or person. They are here to point out what has been going on in households, and what has been hidden away... while still living on in the memory of the person who had to experience these things. These memories are here to give voice to the person who was silenced from getting help out of fear (of retribution or of plainly not being believed that another person/s could or would do such a thing or things). The burden of silently carrying those memories inside felt like - to the victim - that she was [by her silence] protecting her abuser/s from accountability. This blog is her way of freeing herself from those burdens.

These are not necessarily Badly Abusive or Sensational stories, but they can be triggering. They may contain references to rape, sexualized situations, deviant behavior, neglect, covert or overt abuse and/or neglect, scapegoating, favoritism, divorce, animal mistreatment, and other types of difficult situations. Please note that the individual stories will not be posting the specific type/s of behavior [or content warnings at all] at the beginning of each story. As such, it is up to the reader to decide whether or not to proceed with reading, and the reader takes full responsibility for how the content affects them.
